The work was conceived by Jack Viertel and features music and lyrics by Newman and musical staging by Warren Carlyle. "Randy Newman’s witty, complex, bittersweet and often satirical songbook is at the heart of this new work, which creates a compelling, honest and humorous commentary on what it is like to be born, grow up, fall in love, and live and die in America," according to press notes.
Jerry Zaks directs a cast featuring Ryder Bach, Storm Large, Tony winner Adriane Lenox, Michael McKean, Katey Sagal and Matthew Saldivar.
The cast and creative team posed for photos during a recent rehearsal break.
