Michelle Obama Picks Songs from Wicked, Hamilton and Dreamgirls for Day of the Girl Playlist

News   Michelle Obama Picks Songs from Wicked, Hamilton and Dreamgirls for Day of the Girl Playlist
First Lady Michelle Obama has released her first-ever Spotify playlist in celebration of International Day of the Girl. Several Broadway musicals are included in the playlist "that every woman – young or old – will love." We think theatre fans will love it, too.

International Day of the Girl, which was observed Oct. 11, was created "to recognize girls' rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world."

Included in the 20-track playlist are songs from three Broadway musicals: "Defying Gravity" from Wicked, "My Shot" from Hamilton and "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," as performed by Jennifer Hudson on the original film soundtrack for Dreamgirls.
