While Having Our Say, the Tony-nominated play about the lives and times of two centenarian sisters, is in the midst of its 58-city U.S. Tour, the play is also receiving separate productions, such as ones scheduled for January at Actors Theatre Of Louisville and May at Berkeley Rep.

The national tour began Oct. 17 in Galveston, TX, and will continue at least through May 1997.

Co-produced by Camille O. Cosby, wife of Bill Cosby, this tour of Emily Mann's play is directed by the author and stars Micki Grant (Sadie) and Lizan Mitchell (Bessie). Grant made her Broadway debut as the ingenue in Langston Hughes' Tambourine To Glory. Mitchell was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for best actress for her Broadway debut in So Long On Lonely Street. For the role of Bessie, Mitchell received the Black Theatre Alliance Best Actress Award.

Bessie Delany passed away Sept. 1995, but Sadie is alive, well and working on a new book: "On My Own At 107: Reflections On Life Without Bessie."

Based on the best-selling book "Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years," the play tells the true story of two African American girls born to former slaves in the 1800s, who live through the Northward migration of Southern blacks, the rise of the Klan, two World Wars, a Depression and the Civil Rights movement. The show played 302 performances on Broadway.

The Louisville production will star Shona Tucker (Bessie) and Crystal Laws Green (Sadie) and be directed by Tazewell Thompson. Running Jan. 29 through March 8, Having Our Say will coincide with Black History Month.

The Berkeley Repertory Theatre production is scheduled to begin previews May 16, open May 21, and run to July 6.
