The actor joins previously announced stars Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth and William Hurt in the new take on the dual identity comic book story.

Nelson is slated to play scientist Samuel Sterns who, according to "Hulk" lore, undergoes a similar green-skinned transformation, says the trade publication.

Jim Van Wyck, David Maisel, Ari Arad and Stan Lee executive produce with Arad, Gale Anne Hurd and Kevin Feige as producers.

Nelson — seen on film in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?," "The Good Girl" and "Syriana," among others — will play Quince in the Public Theater's Daniel Sullivan staging of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The actor has previously appeared on stage in an oak tree, The Beard of Avon, Troilus and Cressida, An Imaginary Life and Mad Forest. He penned the stage play The Grey Zone — which he would later adapt for the 2001 film which he directed. He also helmed the 2001 film "O," an updated screen version of Othello.
