News Mighty Real Among 2015 Audelco Award Nominees Nominees for the 44th Annual Vivian Robinson/Audelco Awards for Excellence in Black Theatre, for work in New York City, were announced Oct. 15 at a ceremony in Harlem, NY.

Among the top nominees was Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical, a show about the original 1970s "Queen of Disco" which ran at the Theatre at St. Clements last fall and reportedly is being readied for a Broadway run, date and theatre to be announced, by AnthonyKen LLC and Sheryl Lee Ralph/The Diva Foundation. The show earned five Audelco nominations, including Outstanding Musical Production of the Year.<p>

The awards were established in 1973 by Vivian Robinson "to generate more recognition, understanding and awareness of the arts in African-American communities; to provide better public relations and to build new audiences for non-profit theatre and dance companies."

The awards will be given in a Nov. 16 ceremony to be held at Symphony Space in Manhattan.
