News Mike Burstyn to Star in Premiere of Lansky in Los Angeles Mike Burstyn, whose Broadway credits include Barnum and Ain't Broadway Grand, will star in the American premiere of Lansky at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

Penned by Joseph Bologna and Richard Krevolin, Lansky — about the life of mobster Meyer Lansky — will play a limited engagement beginning June 14. Bologna will also direct.

Lansky, according to press notes, concerns "the efforts of the Jewish gangster and gambler, Meyer Lansky to become an Israeli citizen. The play uses Lansky's life story as a crucible to explore Jewish identity and the choices first generation Jewish Americans made in order to achieve wealth and success."

Mike Burstyn has been seen on Broadway in The Megilla of Itzik Manger, Barnum and Ain't Broadway Grand. He received a Drama Desk nomination for his performance in On Second Avenue, and his other theatrical credits include Jolson, The Rothschilds (Drama Desk nomination) and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife. Burstyn is also the recipient of three Israeli "Oscars."

Bologna is also the author of Made for Each Other and Lovers & Other Strangers, both penned with wife Renee Taylor. Krevolin also wrote the hit comedy King Levine.
