Solo performance artist Tim Miller will present My Queer Body, returning to San Fransisco's New Conservatory Theatre Center Oct. 15 25.
Body is based on the stories Miller hears his body tell -- stories that begin with his existance "as a queer spermlet" and cover all matters of life from sex to pain.
Miller co-founded New York's Performance Space 122 in 1980 and Santa Monica's Highways Performance Space in 1989. He also won a settlement from the government in 1995 for an NEA grant that was taken away from him because of the content of his work. In 1998, part of this decision was overturned when the Supreme Court determined "standards of decency" were constitutional.
Miller will also run his Gay Men's Performance Workshop at NCTC on Oct. 24 from 2:30-5:30 PM. The cost for the workshop is $10. No prior performance experience is necessary.
Tickets for My Queer Body are $16-$20 and can be reserved by calling the NCTC box office at (415) 861-8972. The NCTC is located at 25 Van Ness Avenue. -- By Christine Ehren
