Liza Minnelli's 15-city tour will commence March 9 at San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre. Minnelli on Minnelli, a tribute to the singer's father, the late director and film visionary Vincent Minnelli, will run through March 12.
After a month-long engagement at the Palace in December 1999, Minnelli on Minnelli will tour key markets including Washington DC, where Minnelli will be performing at the Kennedy Center April 11-16.
Tickets for the show are now on sale.
The Broadway show will remain essentially intact. One significant change involves Minnelli's back-up group. Broadway veteran Bill Hartung returned to Footloose Feb. 8, so he will not be able to tour with Minnelli on Minnelli.
Minnelli on Minnelli could run through the end of the year and one source close to the tour indicated that there is early speculation about a possible return engagement in New York City. In her tribute show, Minnelli sings songs and presents multi-media presentations from her father's films including "The Band Wagon," "Meet Me in St. Louis," "Gigi" and "An American in Paris."
Tickets range from $45 - $120. The Orpheum Theatre is located at 1192 Market Street (at Hyde and Eighth) in San Francisco. Tickets can be ordered from Ticketmaster at (415) 512-7770.
