News   Minoff, Child and Lowe Set for L.A. Shape of Things

A six-week engagement of Neil LaBute's The Shape of Things will begin performances July 6 at the Sidewalk Studio Theatre in Los Angeles.

Tammy Minoff, who was seen on Broadway in The Goodbye Girl and The Will Rogers Follies, will be featured in a cast that also includes Samuel Child ("The Hamiltons," "Lurking in Suburbia"), James Lowe (Fucking A, The Glory of Living) and Katherine Rocheleau (The City, Holiday). Brad William-Henke and Katelin Chesna-Henke will co-direct the limited run, which is scheduled play through Aug. 15.

"While visiting an art museum," read Shape of Things press notes, "nerdy college student Adam meets an iconoclastic artist named Evelyn, and is instantly smitten. As their relationship develops, she gradually encourages Adam to change in a number of ways. But as his friendships with lost love Jenny and her fiancé Phillip flounder, is change for good or ill? Ditching a dodgy jacket is one thing, but how is Adam's transformation affecting his soul?"

The Shape of Things premiered in 2001 at London's Almeida Theatre before arriving Off-Broadway later that year. The film — starring Paul Rudd and Rachel Weisz — was released in 2003. The upcoming mounting marks the premiere production of Henke Acting Studio and Nobull Productions.

Show times are Thursday-Saturday evenings at 8 PM.

The Sidewalk Studio Theatre is located at 4150 Riverside Drive, Toluca Lake in Los Angeles. Tickets, priced $15, are available by visiting www.plays411.com.
