Plowshares Theatre Company, Michigan's only professional African American theatre troupe, offers Detroit playwright Ron Milner's Jazz Set, Aug. 10-Sept. 3, at the Anderson Center Theater in Dearborn, MI.
Plowshares artistic director Gary Anderson directs the story of the lives of six jazz musicians. Milner uses musical metaphors to express the conflicts and compromises that happen among people based on economics, race, social status and spirituality. Plowshares bills Jazz Set as "an emotionally complex drama that asks the artists and the world: What's more important, the soloist or the ensemble?"
Official opening is Aug. 12. Tickets are $10-$18. Anderson Center Theater is on the campus of Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, 20900 Oakwood Blvd.
