Plumb is making her New York theatrical debut in the lead role of Miss Abigail. She is joined on stage by Manuel Herrera, who plays Miss Abigail's right-hand man, Paco. Herrera has been featured in Broadway's Legally Blonde (Padamadan/Nikos), Sweet Charity (Herman cover), Wicked (Chistery) and The Music Man (Tommy Djilas).
Written by Ken Davenport (Altar Boyz, My First Time, The Awesome 80s Prom) and Sarah Saltzberg (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), the play — presented in an open-ended engagement — will officially open at the Downstairs Cabaret Theater at Sofia’s Oct. 24. Davenport also directs.
Miss Abigail's Guide to Dating, Mating, & Marriage is based on Abigail Grotke's popular book and tells the story of "Miss Abigail, the most sought-after relationship expert to the stars — think Dr. Ruth meets Emily Post — and her sexy sidekick Paco, as they travel the globe teaching Miss Abigail’s outrageously funny 'how-tos' on dating, mating and marriage."
Show times are Wednesday at 2 PM, Thursday and Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 PM, 5 PM and 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM and 7:30 PM.
Downstairs Cabaret Theater at Sofia's is located at 221 West 46th Street, next to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. For ticket information visit www.MissAbigailsGuide.com.
