News Miss Julie Opens Limited Off-Bway Engagement June 22 August Strindberg's searing naturalistic classic Miss Julie officially opens at Off-Broadway's Cherry Lane Theatre June 22; previews began June 15.

Scott Schwartz directs this production of the tale of class and sexual welfare, which features a new translation by Truda Stockenstram. Placed in contemporary, Middle Eastern setting, the limited engagement of Miss Julie runs through July 18. Mimi Bilinski heads the cast as Julie, the daughter of an aristocrat who sabotages her own future by dallying with her father's valet, who turns out to be an unscrupulous social opportunist. The company also includes Michael Aronov as Jean and Opal Alladin as Christine.

The creative team comprises Beowulf Boritt (scenic design), Mattie Ullrich (costume design), Tyler Micoleau (lighting design) and Jill BC DuBoff (sound design). Miss Julie is being presented by Boritt and Jessica Niebank.

The Cherry Lane Theatre is located in Manhattan at 38 Commerce Street. Tickets, priced $37, are available through Telecharge, www.telecharge.com.
