The readings of Triassic Parq, written by Marshall Pailet, Bryce Norbitz and Stephen Wargo, will be invitation-only and will precede an Off-Broadway engagement scheduled for spring 2012.
Directed by Pailet, the cast will include Mitchell Jarvis (Rock of Ages, Fiddler on the Roof) and Lori Tan Chinn (M. Butterfly) as twin velociraptors, and Dashaun Young (The Lion King) as their velociraptor protégé. Also featured are Brandon Espinoza (Gypsy, Big, Les Miserables), Ashley Blanchet (Memphis), Claire Neumann, Lee Seymour, Brandon Gill, Olli Haaskivi, Tara Novie, Cara Massey and Andy Roninson.
The musical, according to press notes, "tells the story of Jurassic Park from the perspective of the dinosaurs. Triassic Parq is an unflinching meditation on gender, sexual, and racial identity in an evolving landscape destined to stun you with its Importance and Themes. Chaos is unleashed upon the not-so-prehistoric world when one dinosaur in a clan of females spontaneously turns male. The mutation spawns a chain reaction of identity crises, forcing the dinosaurs to question the very facts of life they’ve held as truth. And, like all great tales laden with import, it is narrated by Morgan Freeman."
Triassic Parq is produced by Flying Squirrel Theatricals and RD Productions, in association with Bulldog Theatrical and P2 Creations.
The Players Club is located at 16 Gramercy Park South. For more information, visit www.TriassicParq.com.
