The fall edition of the Midtown International Theatre Festival will kick off in New York City October 26 and run through November 20. All shows are staged at the WorkShop Theater’s Jewel Box Theatre on 36th Street.
MITF began in 2000 as a summer event but recently expanded to three festivals per year: MITF: Fall, MITF: Spring, and MITF: Summer. It was founded by John Chatterton as a way of showcasing the talents of New York’s Off-Off-Broadway artists at a minimal cost.
The MITF: Fall lineup includes dramas and comedies, musicals, solo shows, and genre pieces including sci-fi plays and surrealist works. The program also includes MITF staged readings, MITF’s Short Play Lab, and MITF Fall Variety—consisting of traditional cabaret performers, tributes to Broadway musicals, and variety acts—which runs November 1, 4, and 5.
