New York City Opera music director George Manahan will conduct the Juilliard Ensemble in 12 live performances of Prokofiev's children's classic beginning Dec. 13.
Mizrahi will narrate the work about a young boy named Peter, who "opens the backyard gate, ventures into the big green meadow, and ultimately manages to liberate the village from the scary wolf. Peter captures the wolf with the help of his animal friends and hands him over to the hunters, with the specific request - to take the wolf to the zoo." Each character in the 30-minute work has a corresponding instrument.
Peter and the Wolf will have designs by the Campana Brothers with lighting design by Tony winner Jennifer Tipton.
Peter and the Wolf will be presented Dec. 13-16 and Dec. 20 and 21. Tickets, priced $35, are available by phoning (212) 423-3587, or by visiting WorksandProcess.
