Cabaret lovers have two more opportunities to catch a revue dedicated to the songs of lyricist Tim Rice. Titled "The Circle Of Life," the show opened July 7 at Minneapolis' Cabaret a la Carte and has two more performances there, July 21 and 30, at 7:30 PM. Billed as "an homage to the clever British lyricist whose work includes the stage and/or screen musicals Evita, The Lion King, Aladdin, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chess and Beauty And The Beast." Performing Circle are Tom Bengston, Jody Briskey, Michelle Carter, Dorian Chalmers, William Gilness, Bob Hanson, Holly Schroeder and David Young.

Aaron Swestka serves as musical director for the show, which has a three piece band and staging by Perrin Post.

Producer Laura Davis said in a statement that Rice has long been her favorite lyricist. "I met him in his office in London in August 1995. He gave me a CD called "The Best Of Tim Rice," with many of his musical theatre hits and songs from shows not well-known in the U.S. (such as Blondel and Starmania), which I fell in love with... Tim and his secretary, Eileen Heinink, have been tremendously kind and supportive of my efforts -- they've personally faxed over sheet music I've requested!"

Tribute revues are not new to Cabaret A La Carte, which has previously mounted The Big Barry Manilow Birthday Bash and Songs Of Bernadette: Music Made Famous By Bernadette Peters.
