News MN's Playwrights' Center Accepting Applications for Jerome Fellowships The Playwrights' Center of Minneapolis is currently accepting applications for its 2000-2001 Jerome Fellowships. The fellowships are awarded annually, providing emerging American playwrights with funds and services to aid them in the development of their craft. The five fellowships, each worth $7,200, are underwritten by a grant from the Jerome Foundation.

The Playwrights' Center of Minneapolis is currently accepting applications for its 2000-2001 Jerome Fellowships. The fellowships are awarded annually, providing emerging American playwrights with funds and services to aid them in the development of their craft. The five fellowships, each worth $7,200, are underwritten by a grant from the Jerome Foundation.

Fellows spend a year-long residency (July 1, 2000 - June 30, 2001) at the Center including readings and workshops with professional directors, dramaturgs and actors, special projects, and exchanges.

Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and may have not have had more than two different works fully produced by professional theatres at the time of application.

One hundred and thirty-four Playwrights' Center Jerome Fellowships have been awarded since 1976. Past recipients include: Lee Blessing, Bridget Carpenter, Endesha Ida Mae Holland, Naomi Iizuka, Kevin Kling, Syl Jones, Ruth Margraff and August Wilson.

Applications must be postmarked by Sept. 15, and may be obtained by calling (612) 332-7481 or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Jerome Fellowships
