News Mo(or)town Redux, Shakespeare's Othello Set to Motown Hits, Among Baryshnikov Arts Center Fall Lineup The Baryshnikov Arts Center has announced the lineup for its upcoming fall season. The U.S. premiere of La Douleur (The War: A Memoir), the memoir of Marguerite Duras; and Mo(or)town Redux, Shakespeare's Othello set to Motown music, are among the offerings.

Duras' La Douleur (The War: A Memoir), directed by Patrice Chéreau and Thierry Thieû Niang, will be performed by Dominique Blanc Oct. 2-6.

La Douleur, according to Baryshnikov Arts Center, "is the poignant memoir of Marguerite Duras, written at the end of World War II, as she awaited with uncertainty her husband's return from a concentration camp. Her intimate text, staged by theatre director Patrice Chéreau, in collaboration with choreographer Thierry Thieû Niang, is given a powerful interpretation by Dominque Blanc, who recreates Duras's alternating hope and despair with extraordinary intensity."

In Mo(or)town Redux, which will run Dec. 5-8, "post-modern choreographer Doug Elkins digs deep into his hip hop-influenced repertory." The piece will be performed alongside Scott, Queen of Marys, a work created in 1996 to showcase the talents of vogue and drag ball legend Willi Ninja.

Other highlights of the season include St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble
's Whirlwind (Sept. 20-21); Raimund Hoghe's Pas de Deux
(Oct. 10-12); The Bolshoi Puppet Theatre's Kholstomer: The Story of a Horse (Oct. 18-20); Malavika Sarukkai's The Spirit of the Body (Nov. 1-3); and the International Contemporary Ensemble ICElab productions of Echoi (Nov. 2-3) and Self Fictions (Dec. 15).
