The Off-Broadway troupe Mobius Group Productions has a thing about Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde. In the fall of 1999, the company produced The Loop, Warren Leight's modern spin on Schnitzler's sexual daisy chain of a play. Less that two years later, Mobius is mounting Richard Nelson's Jitterbugging: Scenes of Sex in a New Society, which is described as "a free adaptation of La Ronde." It will run April 12-30 at the Gershwin Hotel in Manhattan.

The Nelson version, written in 1983, takes places at a seaside New England hotel. Mobius' physical production, directed by Paul Urcioli, will be given an environmental staging, utilizing various parts of the Gershwin's Ballroom.

Cynthia Carroll, Jen Davis, Douglas Manes and Paul Marcarelli are featured. With the exception of Manes, the actors also appeared in The Loop.

Urcioli is a member of the Present Company and has acted in several mountings of Brian Park's comedy Americana Absurdum, including last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival engagement. He has also acted in Over the River and Through the Woods Off-Broadway.

Nelson is the author of dozens of plays, including James Joyce's The Dead, Madame Melville, Goodnight Children Everywhere and New England. Tickets are $15. The Gershwin Hotel is located at 7 E. 27th Street. For information, call (212) 206-1515.
