David Taylor directs a cast that includes West End actors Ben Evans (Jersey Boys, Oliver!) as Chuck/Davy Jones, Oliver Savile (Mamma Mia! international tour) as William/Peter Tork, Stephen Kirwan (Mary Poppins) as Andy/Micky Dolenz, Tom Parsons (Mamma Mia!, Avenue Q) as Mark/Mike Nesmith and Linal Haft (Happy Birthday Brecht) as Joey Finkelstein.

Here's how the show is billed: "A madcap Austin Powers-style adventure, Monkee Business the Musical is the zany, new major musical for 2012. It’s the story of four innocent boys who fall prey to an evil record producer and are tricked into impersonating one of the biggest bands in the world. As they struggle to conceal their own personalities, a frantic world tour leads to entanglements with a harem of sexy Russian spies, an army of Tower Beefeaters and a railway carriage full of nuns. Totally far out!"

Audiences can expect to hear the Monkees tunes "I’m A Believer," "Last Train to Clarksville," "Hey, Hey We’re The Monkees," "Daydream Believer," "My Boy Lollipop" and "You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me," among others.

Following Monkee Business' limited engagement at the Manchester Opera House, which concludes April 14, the musical will play the Glasgow Kings Theatre from April 17–21 and the Sunderland Empire from April 24–28. The Manchester run of Monkee Business The Musical will be dedicated to the late Davy Jones.

Other members of the creative team include designer Morgan Large and choreographer David Morgan. Monkee Business is produced by Michael Rose Ltd. in conjunction with the Ambassador Theatre Group. Monkee Business is premiering at the Opera House as part of Manchester Gets It First, Ambassador Theatre Group's commitment to making Manchester the U.K.’s official city for launching theatre's biggest new musicals. Ghost the Musical was the first MGiF show, which was followed by All New People, written by and starring Zach Braff.
