News Month-Long Free Night of Theater Program Starts Oct. 1 in NYC; Tix Available Starting Sept. 29 Theater Communications Group (TCG) has announced that the third annual Free Night of Theatre New York City will start Oct. 1 and continue for the entire month of October at nearly 100 participating Off-Broadway, Off-Off-Broadway and independent theatres in all five boroughs of the city.

Tickets will be available to the public beginning Sept. 29 at 10 AM ET at freenightnyc.net. Free Night of Theater is now presented in more than 23 states, after being introduced as a three-city pilot program in 2005. The program, which began in New York in  2008, seeks to build new audiences and increase public awareness of theatre. It is presented by TCG, Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York), Theatre Development Fund, New York State Council on the Arts, Arts & Business Council of New York and League of Independent Theater.

This year, ticket holders will automatically receive a special invitation to the Free Night of Theater New York City special event Nov. 1. The celebration will include guest panels, live performances and other entertainment.
