News Monty Python's Spamalot to Launch U.K. Tour at London's New Wimbledon Theatre Monty Python's Spamalot, which played a West End run of over two years at the Palace Theatre, is to be revived at New Wimbledon Theatre in southwest London, ahead of a planned national tour. It will begin performances there May 29, for a run through June 5.

The show was originally scheduled to tour after its West End run ended in January 2009, but those plans were subsequently cancelled.

Spamalot features a book and lyrics by Eric Idle and music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, based on the screenplay of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" by Monty Python creators Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. The original direction was by Mike Nichols, with choreography by Casey Nicholaw. The creative team for the new tour has not yet been announced, nor has casting.

The musical tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their quest from God for the Holy Grail — with a short stop in the dazzling Spam-filled land of Camelot.

Spamalot earned the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and took home honors for direction (Mike Nichols) and one of its stars (Sara Ramirez).
