Matt Walker directs the production which began Aug. 4 and opened Aug. 10 at Santa Monica's Miles Memorial Playhouse for a run originally slated through Sept. 10. The run now plays two more weeks.
Much Adoobie is a parody that blends William Shakespeare's classic Much Ado About Nothing with the music of the 1970's rock band. Show materials state "In this spirited tale of wit, wise-cracking and 'What A Fool Believes,' the couples in this comedic, Shakespearean battle of the sexes would rather drift down a murky river of 'Black Water' than pair off in any romantic 'China Grove.' Will our squabbling central characters, Beatrice and Benedick quit 'Takin’ It to the Streets' and start 'Rockin’ Down The Highway'? Will Claudio take Hero in his arms and profess 'You Belong To Me'? All these questions and more will be revealed as the hilarious action unfolds 'Minute By Minute!'"
The cast features Guilford Adams, Eric Anderson, Joseph Leo Bwarie, Travis Clark, Lauren Gira, Tina Groff, Darren Herbert, Andre Holmes, Beth Kennedy, Lynette Rathnam, Jen Seifert, Audrey Siegel, Mike Sulprizio, Matt Walker and Dan Waskom.
The Much Adoobie design team includes Sharon McGunigle (costume), Jeremy Pivnick (lighting) and Robert Ramirez (sound). Choreography is by Nadine Ellis and the production stage manager is Corey Womack. Eric Heinly and Andre Holmes serve as co-musical directors.
