Telly Leung (Allegiance), Eden Espinosa (Wicked), Tony nominee Chad Kimball (Memphis), Jarrod Spector (Beautiful) and Adam Pascal (Rent) have joined the star-studded line-up for Michael McElroy and The Broadway Inspirational Voices' February concert, Inspirational Broadway.
The evening of show tunes, R&B, gospel and pop classics is also set to feature Hamilton's Renee Elise Goldsberry along with Tony winner Billy Porter, Joshua Henry (Porgy and Bess) and Marcus Paul James (The Wiz Live). Music direction is by James Sampliner (Prince of Broadway), with all proceeds going towards providing music to youth in undeserved communities.
Inspirational Broadway, taking place Feb. 15 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, is set to feature musical hits from shows like Rent, Sunday in the Park with George, Violet, Oklahoma! and Memphis.
Founded in 1994 by Tony nominee McElroy, the Grammy-nominated BIV is a gospel choir ensemble made up of actors and musicians from a host of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, including Hamilton leading lady Goldsberry. "There's something that we as a group do when we come together, with gospel that I think is a revelation in this community," says Goldsberry in the Kickstarter video for the group's second holiday album, "Great Joy II: Around the World." "That's not all that this group does. This group is called to bring a level of excellence in terms of the arrangements and the performing and just the spirit with which we handle the material and the spirit with which we share it."
