Although Morgan James is temporarily sidelined from the first Broadway revival of Godspell, which is currently in previews at Circle the Square, she will be able to flex her vocal muscles in a free concert Oct. 17.

James, Playbill.com has learned, sprained her ankle during rehearsals for the Stephen Schwartz musical. Her role will be played by understudy Julia Mattison until her return; a return date has yet to be announced.

Though she is unable to dance, James will perform live with her band at Rockwood Music Hall (196 Allen Street) Oct. 17 at 8 PM.

She will be accompanied by Chris Fenwick (piano), Paul McGilloway (guitar), Buster Hemphill (bass) and Joe Abba (drums).

James' previous Broadway credits include Wonderland and The Addams Family.
