Guettel will host and perform at this year's Regional Tony Award-winning Intiman Theatre company's 2006 Gala performance with special guest artists Morrison, Anna Bergman and Laura Griffith. Musicians will include Adam Ben-David on piano, Page Smith on cello and Kyung Sun Chee on violin.

The benefit performance will take place at the Intiman's home at Seattle Center with all proceeds going towards artistic, education and community programs. Attendees will be treated to a hosted cocktail reception, multi-course dinner and dancing as well.
The creative team includes lighting designer Christopher Akerlind, orchestrator Ted Sperling (with Guettel) and Wendiana Walker serves as stage manager. The son of composer Mary Rodgers and the grandson of Broadway legend Richard Rodgers earned two Tony Awards for The Light in the Piazza for his score and orchestrations (penned with Ted Sperling and Bruce Coughlin). Other works include Lydie Breeze and Floyd Collins and he is currently developing a musical version of the film "The Princess Bride."
Intiman Artistic Director Bartlett Sher staged the Broadway run of Guettel's The Light in the Piazza, created with Intiman Associate Artistic Director and playwright Craig Lucas based on the novel by Elizabeth Spencer. The work, still playing on Broadway, had its world premiere at the Intiman in 2003. With its Tony wins in score and orchestrations, the musical earned the most 2005 Tony Awards of any production, taking home honors for actress Victoria Clark and all three designers Michael Yeargan (scenic), Catherine Zuber (costume) and Christopher Akerlind (lighting). The Light in the Piazza returns to the Intiman, by way of the national tour, in April 2007.
