Charles Randolph-Wright directs the musical, about the life of recording pioneer Berry Gordy, which is brimming with songs made famous by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five. It has a book by Gordy.
The tour will play Chicago's Oriental Theatre April 22-July 13, with an engagement at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit Oct. 21-Nov. 16. Additional stops include Minneapolis, MN (Dec. 16-28 at the Orpheum Theatre); Fort Lauderdale, FL (Feb. 24-March 8, 2015, at the Broward Center); Los Angeles, CA (April 28-June 7, 2015, at the Pantages Theatre); Houston, TX (July 21-26, 2015, at the Hobby Center); Atlanta, GA (Aug. 18-23, 2015, at the Fox Theatre); and Charlotte, NC (Aug. 25-Sept. 6, 2015, at the Blumenthal PAC).
Casting for the tour has not been announced.

Motown opened at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre April 14, 2013.
Motown has scenic design by David Korins, costume design by ESosa, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Peter Hylenski, projection design by Daniel Brodie and choreography by Patricia Wilcox (Blues in the Night) and Warren Adams ("Toy Story"). Motown features arrangements and orchestrations by Ethan Popp, with co-orchestrations and additional arrangements by Bryan Crook, dance arrangements by Zane Mark and music direction by Joseph Joubert.
Gordy produces the musical along with Tony winner Kevin McCollum (Rent, In the Heights, Avenue Q) and Sony Music CEO Doug Morris.
