New Group artistic director Scott Elliott stages the work, which began previews Jan. 27 at The Acorn @ Theatre Row. The run is currently slated through April 18. Based on Aeschylus' The Oresteia, O'Neill set his trilogy of plays in a New England town "at the end of the Civil War," according to show notes. "When General Ezra Mannon and his son Orin return home [they] find their family in strife and the home they've been pining for torn apart."

Screen star Malone ("Saved," "Donnie Darko") — previously seen onstage in Broadway's Doubt — appears in the role of Lavinia Mannon.

Taylor, a New Group veteran of Aunt Dan and Lemon, plays Christine Mannon. The actress, known for her screen work in "Mystic Pizza," "I Shot Andy Warhol," "High Fidelity" and "Six Feet Under," has also been seen onstage in Landscape of the Body and Three Sisters.

Joining Malone and Taylor in the cast are Carolyn Baeumler (Heddatron), Joseph Cross (Landscape of The Body), Anson Mount (Cymbeline), Mark Blum (Twelve Angry Men, The Music Teacher), Robert Hogan (Hamlet, The Accomplices), Phoebe Strole (Spring Awakening), Patrick Mapel (The Bacchae), Therese Barbato (Prometheus Bound), Geoffrey Bryant (The Bride of Olneyville Square), Susan Goodwillie, Mycah Hogan (The Wendy Complex), Sean Meehan (Sins of the Mother) and John Wojda (Esctasy).

The design team includes Derek McLane (set), Susan Hilferty (costume), Jason Lyons (lighting) and Shane Rettig (sound).

The New Group opened its season with Kevin Elyot's Mouth to Mouth and will conclude with a production yet to be announced. (The previously announced Seth Rosenfeld's Handball has been postponed.)
