News Movin' Out and The Graduate Win Top Honors in 2005 Touring Broadway Awards Winners of the 2005 Touring Broadway Awards were announced May 9 with Billy Joel's Movin' Out named Best New Musical and Terry Johnson's The Graduate voted Best Play.

The annual awards, established in 2001, are presented by the League of American Theatres and Producers. The ceremony will be held May 10 at New York City's Hilton Hotel.

"League presenting members," according to a press release, "chose the winners from the eligible League productions in each of their Broadway Series to submit for national vote tabulation." In a statement, League President Jed Bernstein said, "The Touring Broadway Awards recognize the best of the road each season, and nurture a sense of community among Touring Broadway, making Broadway the longest street in the world. We are delighted to recognize the extraordinary work of these shows and individuals with this year’s Touring Broadway Awards."
