Classic Arts News 'Mozart at 250: The Salzburg Festival Celebration' Airs Tonight on PBS's Great Performances A part of the Salzburg Festival's celebration of its hometown's favorite son comes to US television screens this evening, as the PBS series Great Performances airs a special gala concert from the festival in honor of Mozart's 250th birthday.
Recorded live at the city's Felsenreitschule, "Mozart at 250: The Salzburg Festival Celebration" features a performance by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding, with opera stars Anna Netrebko, Patricia Petibon, Magdalena Kozenš, Ekaterina Siurina, Michael Schade, Ren_ Pape and Thomas Hampson. The program includes overtures and arias from the operas Don Giovanni, Mitridate, r di Ponto, CosÐ fan tutte, La clemenza di Tito and Idomeneo, along with Mozart's "Prague" Symphony (No. 38).

"Mozart at 250: The Salzburg Festival Celebration" airs on PBS tonight at 9 pm Eastern time (check local listings for schedule and possible rebroadcasts).
