News Muny Season Concludes With Les Misérables Aug. 6 Ivan Rutherford, who was a Valjean in the original Broadway production of Les Misérables, again steps into the shoes of Victor Hugo's hero Aug. 6 when the international hit musical begins performances at the St. Louis Muny, the nation's oldest and largest outdoor theatre.

Directed by Fred Hanson, Les Miz — which is currently enjoying a revival at Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre — is the final production of the current Muny season and will run through Aug. 15.

The company also features Jeff McCarthy as Javert; Robert Earl Gleason as Farmer; Damien Brett as Labourer; Mary Catherine McDonald as Innkeeper's Wife; Michael McKeenan as Innkeeper; Tom O'Brien as The Bishop of Digne; Andrew Arrington, Michael Burton and Max Quinlan as the Constables; Simone as Fantine; Sean Montgomery as the Foreman; Samia Mounts as Factory Girl; Sara Sheperd as the Old Woman; Meggie Cansler as Crone; Robert Earl Gleason as Bamatabois; Justin Scott Brown as Fauchelevent; Damien Brett as Man on Trial; Olivia Jane Prosser as Young Cosette; Lisa Howard as Madame Thenardier; Ken Page as Thenardier; Jorden Blair as Young Eponine; Jimmy McEvoy as Gavroche; Kari Ely as Old Beggar Woman; Ruth Pferdehirt as Young Prostitute; Diana Kaarina as Eponine; Sean Montgomery as Montparnasse; Michael McKeenan as Babet; Damien Brett as Brujon; Andrew Arrington as Claquesous; Manu Narayan as Enjolras; Kevin Kern as Marius; Leah Horowitz as Cosette; Michael Burton as Feuilly; Preston Truman Boyd as Grantaire; Tom O'Brien as Loud Hailer; and Kent Overshown as Major Domo.

The ensemble comprises Cody LaShea Aaron, Andrew Arrington, Etai BenShlomo, Jesse Bernath, Karin Berutti, Preston Truman Boyd, Damien Brett, Justin Scott Brown, Michael Burton, Meggie Cansler, Nick Cosgrove, Kari Ely, Robert Earl Gleason, Lynn Humphrey, Julie Kavanagh, Michael Lowney, Mary Catherine McDonald, Michael McKeenan, Sean Montgomery, Samia Mounts, Tom O'Brien, Kent Overshown, Ruth Pferdehirt, Max Quinlan, Sara Sheperd, Kendal Sparks and Jeanne Trevor.

The creative also includes Evan Ensign (assistant director), Dan Riddle (music director), Michael Anania (set designer), David Lander (lighting designer) and Matt Lacey (production stage manager). Paul Blake is the executive producer.

Les Miz was first presented by Cameron Mackintosh and The Royal Shakespeare Company at the Barbican Theatre in October 1985. The musical transferred to the West End's Palace Theatre later that year, where it played for 19 years. The production transferred to the Queen's Theatre in April 2004, where it continues today. Les Misérables originally ran for 11 previews and 6,680 performances from 1987 to 2003 at the Broadway Theatre and then the Imperial Theatre, making it the third longest-running Broadway musical ever.

Produced by Cameron Mackintosh, Les Misérables is based on the novel by Victor Hugo and features music by Claude-Michel Schönberg and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, with original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel and additional material by James Fenton. It is directed by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.
