News   Musical Mondays! Season to Feature Working, Jason Robert Brown and Rodgers & Hammerstein Reprise! Broadway's Best has announced its first subscription season of Marvelous Musical Mondays, which will be presented at UCLA's Freud Playhouse.

The series kicks off Monday, Sept. 26 with Working, the musical based on the Studs Terkel book, which was adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nino Faso. The dreams of 23 ordinary workers are explored in the unique musical, which features songs by Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Mary Rodgers, Susan Birkenhead, Stephen Schwartz and James Taylor. The Reprise! mounting will be directed by David Lee and Kevin Chamberlin. Jason Robert Brown's acclaimed two-person musical The Last Five Years will be offered Monday, Jan. 30, 2006. Tony Award winner Brown will not only serve as the production's musical director, but he will also star as Jamie. The Last Five Years charts the rise and fall of the marriage between Cathy and Jamie over a period of five years. The conceit of The Last Five Years has the woman beginning her story at the end of the relationship and working her way back, while Jamie's story starts from the first date and works forward. They sing together only once, in the middle of the play, at their wedding. Song titles include "Still Hurting," "A Summer in Ohio," "The Next Ten Minutes," "I Can Do Better Than That," "Nobody Needs to Know" and "Goodbye Until Tomorrow."

The Musical Mondays season will conclude Monday, May 8 with Oh What a Beautiful Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein! Audiences can expect to hear tunes from such musicals as Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The Sound of Music and The King and I.
