Two new mini-musicals will be presented March 12: The Mitzvah of Madison Avenue, which is billed as a "spiritual comic tale," and The Rubberers, a musical love story based on O. Henry's "A Comedy in Rubber." Mitzvah features music by Carl J. Danielsen and lyrics by Sara Wordsworth; Rubberers was penned by Matthew Hardy (book and lyrics) and Robert Maggio (music). See Rock City (And other destinations) — with music by Brad Alexander and book and lyrics by Adam Mathias — is the March 26 offering. April 23 will boast a new musical by the authors of Off-Broadway's I Love You Because, Joshua Salzman (music) and Ryan Cunningham (book and lyrics). The duo's new musical is titled Queen Esther and is described as "a musical comedy for all ages based on the story of Purim."
Show time for all performances is 6 PM. Bick Goss and Frank Evans are artistic producing directors of the series. Mary Ellen Ashley, Anne L. Bernstein and Marter Productions are co-producers.
The musicals will be presented on the third floor of the McGinn Cazale Theatre, located in Manhattan at Broadway at 76th Street. There is a $5 admission charge; reservations can be made by calling (212) 989-6706 or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
