News Name That Tuner: Off-Broadway’s Nuclear Family Creates a New Musical Nightly They begin each performance at the breakfast table and end the show at the dinner table. But that’s about all that Jimmy Bennett, John Gregorio and Stephen Guarino can take for granted when they mount the stage at the Zipper Theatre every night as the stars of the unique Off-Broadway musical The Nuclear Family.

Family may be the only musical in New York with no score on paper. At any given performance, musical director Matt Cohen must compose, arrange and orchestrate an original set of songs for the show. Each new score forces Bennett, Gregorio and Guarino to create from scratch a fresh array of characters, using only wigs and their own imaginations. The improvisational musical was born at The World Domination Theatresports Tournament in Atlanta in 2001. It then arrived in New York at 45 Bleecker Theater, later moving to HERE, where it ran for four months.

Tickets are $20. The Zipper is located at 336 W. 37th Street. For reservations and performance schedule, please call (212) 563–0487. To purchase tickets by phone, call Telecharge at (212) 239–6200.
