News   Nancy Travis Is Hunted in Geffen's Boy Gets Girl, April 1-May 11 Nancy Travis, the actress who has played quirky characters on TV sitcoms, is in a less funny situation in the Geffen Theatre's staging of Rebecca Gilman's Boy Gets Girl, about a stalker, beginning April 1.

One blind dates leads to a future of threats in the play, seen at Chicago's Goodman Theatre and at Manhattan Theatre Club, as well as regional theatres around the country. Geffen artistic director Randall Arney directs the production at the resident theatre in Westwood, CA.

"Theresa (Nancy Travis), a Manhattan journalist, becomes the object of Tony's (Mark Deakins) obsession when he won't take 'no' for an answer," according to production notes.

The Boy Gets Girl cast also includes Julie Ann Emery, James Farentino, Charles Janasz, Monnae Michaell and Taylor Nichols. Performances start April 1 and continue to May 11, with a press opening April 9.

Arney directed God's Man in Texas and The Weir for Geffen Playhouse. He is an ensemble member and former artistic director of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre (1987-1995), where he directed plays including I Just Stopped By to See the Man, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Death and the Maiden and Curse of the Starving Class. He directed the world premiere of Picasso at the Lapin Agile at Steppenwolf, as well as the subsequent Los Angeles, Off Broadway, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Tokyo productions. Playwright Gilman's work includes Spinning Into Butter, The Glory of Living, Blue Surge, Crime of the Century and Speech Therapy. She is a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists.

Travis is a founding member of Off-Broadway's Naked Angels, and appeared on Broadway in I'm Not Rappaport and is currently starring in CBS's comedy, "Becker." Designers are Andrew Jackness (scenic), Christina Haaitainen Jones (costume), Daniel Ionazzi (lighting), Richard Woodbury (sound/composition).
