Chess, the story of a politically driven chess tournament between Russian and U.S. players, will kick off FUSE Productions’ upcoming season September 13–15 in Schwab Auditorium on Penn State’s University Park campus in Pennsylvania.

The cast will be headed by three New York-based actors, all Penn State Musical Theatre alums: Natalie Weiss as Florence Vassy, Matthew Hydzik (The Cher Show) as Freddie Trumper, and Kevin Toniazzo-Naughton as Anatoly Sergievsky.

Richard Biever will direct the production, with musical direction by Alex Shields and choreography by Connor Weigand.

Chess features lyrics by Tim Rice and a score composed by ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.
