Nathan Lane, star of the hit Broadway revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, missed the Wednesday, Sept. 11 evening performance.

Lane, who had experienced throat discomfort during the Wednesday matinee, visited a doctor after the performance and was advised to take the evening off. Understudy Bob Amaral, who just finished a week's stint subbing for Lane during the star's Sept. 2-7 vacation, stepped in for the ailing actor.

According to press representative Jackie Green, Lane would return for the Sept. 12 performance. Until now, Lane has missed very few performances of Forum, and has no more vacation time scheduled through February 1997, when his contract with the show expires.
