Isn't She Great, the Nathan Lane-Bette Midler film, will be shooting Aug. 5 and 6 on West 44th Street between Broadway and Eighth.

They're shooting in front of the St. James Theatre were, coincidentally, Lane gave his Tony-winning performance in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Directed by Andrew Bergman (Striptease, Honeymoon in Vegas) and based on a New Yorker story by Michael Korda, Isn't She Great traces the comic adventures of author Jacqueline Susann (The Vally of the Dolls) as she rises to pop culture stardom with the help of her husband, Irving Mansfield.

Midler stars as Susann with Lane in the Mansfield role. Other performers currently involved in the film include Stockard Channing, John Cleese, and David Hyde Pierce, according to the Internet Movie Database.

Produced by Universal Pictures, Isn't She Great is set for a 1999 release. -- By Christine Ehren
