The National Portrait Gallery, or NPG as it is usually called, is profiling two of Britain's leading contemporary playwrights in a two-week double bill of lectures by Paul Webb.
The first talk, in the Ondaatje Lecture Theatre at the NPG (St Martin's Place, between Charing Cross Road and Trafalgar Square), at 3 PM on Oct. 30 celebrates the career of Sir Peter Shaffer, who was knighted this year for services to drama.
The second, at the same time and same venue but on Oct. 7, is on the plays of Sir Tom Stoppard.
Admittance is free, on a first come, first served basis. For further details of the lecture program contact the National Portrait Gallery on 020-7306-0055 and ask for the information desk.
