News National Tour of Book of Mormon Will Play Minneapolis After premiering to acclaim on Broadway Feb. 24, 2011, The Book of Mormon, as previously reported, will begin its national tour Aug. 14 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, CO. It will continue through Sept. 2, prior to a 12-week Los Angeles engagement at the Pantages Theatre Sept. 5-Nov. 25.

The musical, about two missionaires from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who take the trip of a lifetime, will also play a two-week engagement at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis Feb. 5-17, 2013. Casting and additional tour dates have not been announced.

A separate production of The Book of Mormon will play a 12-week Chicago engagement at the Bank of America Theatre. It will play Chicago Dec. 1, 2012-March 2, 2013, according to the Bank of America Theatre website.

"South Park" creators-writers Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Tony-winning Avenue Q songwriter Robert Lopez collaborated on the script and score to The Book of Mormon, which earned Tony Awards for Best Book, Best Score and Best Musical.

Co-directed by Parker and Casey Nicholaw, The Book of Mormon opened March 24, 2011, at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Both earned Tony Awards for their work.
