The high-flying musical had previously set the record in 2015, grossing $3,266,527 for a nine-performance week-ending March 8, 2015, at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre.

The touring company currently stars Emily Koch as Elphaba, Amanda Jane Cooper as Glinda, Wendy Worthington as Madame Morrible, Stuart Zagnit as The Wizard, Jake Boyd as Fiyero, Megan Masako Haley as Nessarose, Chad Jennings as Dr. Dillamond and Sam Seferian as Boq.

"The surprising tale of an unlikely friendship between two women in the Land of Oz," Wicked, according to press notes, "tells the untold story of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, long before Dorothy drops in. Elphaba, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. Glinda is beautiful, ambitious and very popular."

The musical is the winner of more than 100 international awards, including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards.
