The miniseries "The Slap," which is being produced by Universal Television and Australia's Matchbox Pictures (which produced the original), is adapted from the 2008 novel by Australian author Christos Tsiolkas and is described as a "complex family drama" that explodes when a man slaps another couple's misbehaving child.

Baitz and Matchbox's Tony Ayres will executive produce with Universal TV's Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald as well as Ted Gold.

NBC has also given a ten-episode order to "Emerald City," an Oz-themed drama from Matthew Arnold and supervised by Josh Friedman, who executive produce through Universal Television.

"Emerald City" is described as a modern and dark reimagining of the classic Oz tale in the vein of "Game Of Thrones" and will draw upon stories from L. Frank Baum's original 14 books. In the series, a 20-year-old Dorothy Gale is caught in the middle of an "epic and bloody battle" for the control of Oz.
