The National Endowment for the Arts announced on August 17 the 2005 music and dance ensembles that will receive a total of $99,000 in grants under the agency's USArtists International program.

The grants, ranging from $3,000 to $10,000, support the ensembles' performances at 11 European festivals including the Edinburgh International Festival and the Cannes Festival de Danse.

A total of 17 ensembles will receive grants.

Music ensembles included among this year's recipients are the New York new-music group Bang on a Can, which will perform at the KLARA Festival in Brussels, and the Kronos Quartet, which will visit the Octobre en Normandie-Festival de Musique et de Danse in Rouen, France.

Among the dance companies favored with grants are New York's Bridgman/Packer Dance, the John Jasperse Company (which was given two grants to attend two festivals), and the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company of Fort Lee, New Jersey.

The USArtists International Program is administered by the Baltimore-based Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.
