The punishing winds and rain of a nor'easter that hit New York Saturday, Oct. 19, nearly knocked out Nederlander chairman James M. Nederlander and his wife, Charlene.

According to a story in Neal Travis' NY Post column (and confirmed by Nick Scandalios, an executive vice-president of the Nederlander Organization), high winds caused the Nederlander's home heating system to back up, exposing the couple to carbon-monoxide fumes. They were treated overnight at Southampton Hospital, but they're now home and doing fine.

The Nederlander Organization owns seven theatres on Broadway, and co-produces some of the shows in them. Among others, the Nederlanders own the Gershwin (Show BoatBeauty and the Beast), the Marquis (Victor/Victoria and the Nederlander (Rent).

None of the Nederlander theatres or performances were affected by the Saturday storm.
