Variety reports that Neeson has signed to portray Zeus, while Fiennes is in negotiations to portray Hades. The cast also features Sam Worthington, Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos. Louis Leterrier directs the film, which will begin shooting in the U.K. later this month.

The 1981 fantasy starred Laurence Olivier, Claire Bloom, Maggie Smith, Ursula Andress, Harry Hamlin, Burgess Meredith and Sian Phillips.

Neeson, a two-time Tony nominee, has appeared on Broadway in The Crucible, The Judas Kiss and Anna Christie. His noted screen credits include "Taken," "Kinsey," "Love Actually," "Gangs of New York," "Nell" and "Leap of Faith."

Fiennes earned a Tony Award for his performance in Faith Healer and was nominated for the title role in Hamlet on Broadway. His noted film credits include "The English Patient," "The Reader," "Schindler's List," "Harry Potter," "The Constant Gardner" and "Quiz Show."
