News Neil LaBute to Direct Film of Agatha Christie's "Crooked House" Tony Award-nominated playwright Neil LaBute will direct a new film adaptation of Agatha Christie's "Crooked House," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Screenwriter Julian Fellowes ("Gosford Park," "Downton Abbey") is penning the screenplay for the post WWII-set story about a young woman who refuses to marry until her grandfather's killer is brought to justice.

It was announced March 17 that LaBute's Fat Pig would not arrive on Broadway this season as scheduled. The play, which featured Dane Cook, Josh Hamilton, Julia Stiles and Heather Jane Rolff, was to originally open April 26 at the Belasco Theatre under the playwright's direction.

LaBute's plays include Reasons to Be Pretty, Break of Noon, New Testament, Helter Skelter, Second of Pleasure, The Distance From Here, In a Dark Dark House, Autobahn, bash: latter-day plays, The Shape of Things, and the films "In the Company of Men," "Your Friends and Neighbors," "Nurse Betty," "Possession" and "Wicker Man."
