News Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka Are Expecting Twins Neil Patrick Harris, who directed the recent Hollywood Bowl production of Rent, and his partner David Burtka (Tulsa in the Bernadette Peters revival of Gypsy) are expecting twins via a surrogate, according to eonline.com.

The babies are due in October. Harris tweeted Aug. 14: "So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We're super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy..."

Neil Patrick Harris has been seen on Broadway in Assassins, Cabaret and Proof. He appeared in the Geffen Playhouse's production of All My Sons as well as the L.A. company of Rent, the Reprise! production of Sweeney Todd and the London mounting of tick, tick . . . BOOM! His screen credits include the current "How I Met Your Mother" as well as "Undercover Brother," "Doogie Howser, M.D.," "Stark Raving Mad" and "Joan of Arc." Harris also hosted the 63rd Tony Awards and the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards.

Harris is currently nominated for three 2010 Emmy Awards.

Burtka was also seen Off-Broadway in The Play About the Baby.
