A powerful and unusual pair of bunny slippers are the salvation for the harried woman at the center of Hard Feelings, a new comedy by Neena Beber, opening its world premiere Oct. 19 at the Women's Project Theatre. Performances began Oct. 11 for a run through Nov. 4.

When Selma's life starts to go wrong in Hard Feelings, it goes really wrong. Her electrolysis career is bust, her mother is holding her daughter hostage and her ex-girlfriend just joined her writing class, the one where the professor can't get past the student's first sentences. But the answers to all her problems may just lie with her confused granny who is slowly losing her memories and a pair of magical bunny slippers. Beber is the author of A Common Vision, Tomorrowland, The Brief but Exemplary Life of the Living Goddess and Failure to Thrive.

Maria Mileaf directs. Most recently she helmed Lee Blessing's Going to St. Ives at La Jolla Playhouse and the American premieres of Lobster Alice and Beber's Tomorrowland.

Hard Feelings stars Guy Boyd (Betty's Summer Vacation), Mary Fogarty (Secret Garden, "Swing Kids"), Kate Jennings Grant (An American Daughter), Pamela J. Gray (Waste, Night Must Fall) and Seana Kofoed (Night Must Fall).

The design team includes Neil Patel (sets), Katherine Roth (costumes), Russell Champa (lights) and Eileen Tague (sound). Tickets are $36. The Women's Project & Productions Theatre (formerly Theatre Four) is located at 424 West 55th Street. For reservations, call (212) 239-6200.

Founded in 1978 by current Artistic Director Julia Miles, Women's Projects and Playwrights is a non-profit Off-Broadway theatre dedicated to the development of new plays by women. Recent productions include Marlane Meyer's The Chemistry of Change, Joan Vail Thorne's The Exact Center of the Universe with Frances Sternhagen, Karen Hartman's Gum with Daphne Rubin-Vega and Jule Jensen's Two Headed with Lizbeth Mackay.
