News New "American Idol" Winner Crowned; Auditions for Season 11 Begin in June Scotty McCreery was crowned the winner of the 10th season of "American Idol" during the live two-hour season finale on Fox May 25. McCreery, from Garner, NC, emerged as America's choice following the record-shattering vote, which totaled over 122 million, the highest number in the show’s history.

Runner-up was 16-year-old Lauren Alaina.

McCreery now joins past "American Idol" winners Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen and Lee DeWyze.

Audition cities and dates for Season 11 include St. Louis, MO, on June 28; Portland, OR, on July 2; San Diego, CA, on July 8; Pittsburgh, PA, on July 15; Charleston, SC, on July 22; and Houston, TX, on Aug. 26.

Among the many "American Idol" finalists and/or winners who have appeared on Broadway are Fantasia, Justin Guarini, Jordin Sparks, Diana DeGarmo, Ace Young, Tamyra Gray, Constantine Maroulis, Frenchie Davis, Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks.
