Tony winner John Doyle (The Color Purple, Sweeney Todd) will direct a developmental lab of a currently untitled musical compilation featuring the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber, according to an Equity casting notice.
The compilation will feature a book by Richard Curtis and tunes from several Lloyd Webber-composed musicals, including Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Evita, and Jesus Christ Superstar. JoAnn M. Hunter will choreograph, and Kristen Blodgette will serve as music director. Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting.
The workshop is scheduled for April 1–22
In addition to The Phantom of the Opera, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary on Broadway, Lloyd Webber is currently represented in New York with School of Rock. He was honored at the Grammy Awards last month with a performance of the Evita anthem "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" by its Tony-winning star, Patti LuPone.
Doyle most recently directed the world premiere of Fire and Air; the ballet-focused Terrence McNally drama runs through February 25 at Off-Broadway's Classic Stage Company.
